Ford F-Series trucks aren't just America's favorite pickups; they're the top-selling vehicles overall, a position they've held for more than 40 consecutive years. That makes the Ford F-150 Lightning one of the most important electric vehicles currently on sale. Built on a legacy of innovation with Built Ford Tough DNA, the F-150 Lightning delivers robust capability and cutting-edge technology with practical range and zero tailpipe emissions. The future of Ford trucks is here, and you can experience it for yourself at Rowe Ford Westbrook. Here's a quick look at a few of the highlights.
Performance, Range, and Charging
The F-150 Lightning's dual-motor electric powertrain draws energy from either a "Standard" (98 kWh) or "Extended Range" (131 kWh) battery. Standard models produce 426 horsepower and 775 pound-feet of torque and can travel an EPA-estimated 230 miles between charges (or 240 miles for 2023 models). Extended Range models increase output and range to 563 horsepower and 300 miles, respectively, and enable the F-150 Lightning's max tow rating of 10,000 pounds.
The 80-amp Ford Charge Station Pro (included with Extended Range, optional for Standard) is capable of 19.2-kW peak charging power, replenishing the Standard battery in about 10 hours. Extended Range models can charge even faster (~8 hours), thanks to dual onboard charges. The F-150 Lightning is also compatible with DC fast-charging stations, refilling the battery from 15 to 80% in less than 45 minutes.
Ford Intelligent Backup Power
The F-150 Lightning's battery isn't limited to powering the truck itself; it can also power your home during an outage. An available Ford Intelligent Backup Power system works with the Ford Charge Station Pro to offboard up to 9.6 kW of peak energy. So, if your neighborhood grid goes down, a fully charged F-150 Lightning Extended Range model can run a full household for three days (based on 30-kWh per day)--even more, if power is rationed.
Mega Power Frunk
Since the F-150 Lightning's powertrain is located underneath the truck, there's no engine taking up space under the hood. So, the F-150 Lightning uses the free space for a 14.1 cubic-foot storage area with a 400-pound max payload capacity. This sealed and drainable compartment is ideal for protecting cargo from the elements or carrying dirty gear. It also gives you access to 2.4 kW of power through four 120-volt household-style outlets and USB-A/C charge ports.
Tech and Safety Features
The F-150 Lightning offers myriad amenities and cutting-edge tech features, including a standard 12-inch digital gauge cluster and a 12-inch touchscreen. Ford's next-gen SYNC® 4 infotainment system provides seamless and clutter-free smartphone integration via wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. Or you can upgrade to the LARIAT or Platinum trim for an extra-large 15.5-inch SYNC® 4A system with Enhanced Voice Recognition. No matter which configuration you choose, you'll get the added convenience and confidence of Ford Co-Pilot360™ 2.0, a driver-assistance suite with technologies like:
- Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking
- Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert
